The Italian city of Capua has long since embarked on a journey to make its roads safer through technology. An effort aimed at monitoring vehicles, detecting violations and, therefore, ensuring greater safety for all citizens. The collaboration between Targa System® and the Municipality is based on this objective. The Municipality has chosen to rely on technology to quickly identify cars without insurance or roadworthiness tests, as well as to find stolen cars or those on police blacklists. Therefore, in addition to traditional monitoring, in order to combat illegal activities, the Local Police Command is now able to perform its number plate checking duties immediately.
Checking vehicles on the road can be a complex and costly task that does not always yield the desired results. Sometimes traditional monitoring is not enough and there is a need to supplement it with advanced technological tools.
In fact, thanks to remote control and connection to the Police database, the cameras and the Targa System® software are capable of reading number plates and cross-referencing ministerial data in real time, offering a fast and efficient solution that saves the Police Force having to invest entire days in traditional control techniques.
The software sends the information directly to the server connected to the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Centralised Number Plate and Transit System (SCNTT) and IVASS archives. In just a few moments, the result of the check is returned to the police officers, who can consult it conveniently through their smartphones and tablets.
The service is accompanied by direct and constant assistance and continuous support in solving any problems encountered by administrations.
The Targa System® has now been chosen by more than 900 Italian municipalities, which use it as a valuable control tool to support the work of the police.
