Safe entry? It’s automatic!

Access to any public location, be it a hospital, a pharmacy, a supermarket or an office, can expose us to potential risk due to contact with doors that have already been touched by hundreds of other people before us. This is why automatic doors can also make a valid contribution to the management of health emergencies in the most diverse areas of application.

Presence sensors and automatic sliding or swing doors allow touchless entry, eliminating all kinds of risks. We have long been accustomed to seeing this type of system in large public offices, shopping centres and pharmacies, where the need to sanitise entrances would be constant considering the large number of users, but there are many different areas of potential new application.

Just think of blocks of flats, public toilets, sports centres or small restaurants. Automatic swing doors would make it possible in this case, for example, for the waiter, who is interacting with diners and carrying plates, to go from the kitchen to the dining room without touching anything.

Entrematic Italy, which has already confirmed its presence at SICUREZZA 2021 with its solutions from Ditec, historic brand in the sector, tells us about its experience in this new scenario.

“There is no doubt that the upward trend in the adoption of automatic solutions for pedestrian entrances has accelerated sharply as a result of the spread of the pandemic” - says Andrea Tomaselli, Marketing Director for Ditec - “Even in the absence of specific laws or regulations, it is the owners of businesses and workplaces themselves who are looking for improved safety for their customers and staff. For example, in the post lock-down period we had a surge in orders for Ditec branded automatic doors, with an increase of around 300% for our PID24 touchless entry sensors and 70% for Ditec VALOR HH in the health sector!”.

In short, security technologies are, once again, providing tangible support for the management of daily activities at this particular time, along with the advantages for which these technologies were originally created. Improved accessibility and comfort, but also increased energy efficiency thanks to the reduced dispersion of heat and cold. This means savings in bills, as well as environmental sustainability.
