Fire-fighting in Italy is digital and wireless
image
The fire safety market in Italy appears to be one of the leading sectors in the world of security, recording 12.8% growth in 2022, according to ANIE Sicurezza. The development of fire-fighting systems is constantly evolving, and the introduction of digital technologies has certainly enabled a decisive improvement in effectiveness and efficiency.

Digital and wireless solutions have made it possible to develop increasingly sophisticated and customised fire-fighting systems capable of the ongoing monitoring of buildings and facilities, as well as optimising the maintenance and management of installations.

Whether solutions for small or large organisations, today's fire-fighting systems continue to evolve, multiplying their functionality and management methods.

What will companies focus on at SICUREZZA 2023, what are the special features of their offerings? This is something we discussed with Argus Italy and Sabanet.

As Stefania Ressa, Communication and Marketing Manager at Sabanet, acknowledges, "Fire protection systems are undergoing a major evolution linked to the growth of digitalisation processes", and to cope with this, it is also important to communicate with other specialised companies, in order to seek maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

"An example of this", continues Ressa, "is the project resulting from the partnership between Sabanet, Wikom and Tema Sistemi SpA: three Italian companies specialising in software engineering, system integration and the design and production of fire-fighting systems. The project led to the development of a new fire panel management software: a system capable of ‘communicating’ with all fire panels on the market, even if they belong to different brands and/or are located in different parts of the world. The result is clearly an extreme simplification of the management processes of the fire-fighting system, whether in a large public building (e.g. a hospital) or in any industrial setting. As well as this, the possibility of immediate remote intervention on all installations increases the security level of the protected area”.

Argus Italy is also digital-focused, with a particular emphasis on wireless solutions. Giorgio Koursaris CEO of Argus Italy srl says, "Hyfire offers entirely wireless fire-fighting solutions suitable for installation in any environment, aimed at professionals interested in the great added value this brings – reduced installation costs and time, specialist know-how, profitability. Our Taurus wireless line is fully certified according to EN54; it is scalable, easy to extend from a single loop to multiple secure systems thanks to 60 available communication channels; it is efficient, thanks to Mesh Expander Technology that ensures continuity of communication in every situation; it is easy to programme, thanks to TauREX, the intuitive and user-friendly management software. Device consumption has been optimised up to a 10-year battery life on input devices for reduced maintenance".

Solutions of this type can be adapted to any type of environment and size, an example being "the Residence Porto Mannu at Capo d'Orso, in Sardinia", Koursaris concludes, "15 independent buildings, 160 residential units, over 86,000 square metres of floor space. More than 650 Taurus wireless devices, installed in just three weeks and using less than 50 metres of electrical cable, protect the facilities and their occupants".
